Museum of Modern Art
The Museum began to collect photographs in 1930 and established the department in 1940;
its holdings of more than 25,000 works dating from approximately 1840 to the present constitute
one of the most important collections of photography in the world. As diverse as photography itself,

in Photography
Founded in 1981, and reorganized in 2000 as an online resource center, Women in Photography International
(WIPI) serves the needs of photographers, photo educators, photography students, gallery owners,
and photographic organizations around the world. WIPI promotes the visibility of women photographers
and their work through a variety of programs, exhibitions, juried competitions, and publications.

Tenneson
Her work has been shown in over 100 exhibitions worldwide and is included in many museum and
private collections. She is a much sought-after portrait photographer with clients in Europe,
Japan, and the United States. Publications: Time, Life, Premiere, Esquire, and The New York Times
Magazine. Joyce has authored 5 books, is a celebrity photographer, has won numerous awards, and
was voted (by American Photo Magazine) among the 10 most influential women photographers in the
history of photography. This is a beautifully-designed website.
John Isaac
John Isaac is the former chief photographer for the United Nations. Since retiring from the
U.N. he has continued to travel the world, creating images of beauty that stir the soul.
Kathleen Carr
Student of Minor White; worked for Aperture; spent 7 years at the Findhorn Community in Scotland
creating audio-visual programs, multi-media shows, publicity materials, and books; staff photographer
for the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, CA; widely exhibited at galleries and museums; teaches Polaroid
image and emulsion transfer photography and SX-70 manipulations; creative-uses consultant for
Polaroid; published in Outdoor Photographer, National Geographic Traveler, Islands, Esquire and

John Paul
Caponigro
Exhibited and collected internationally, John Paul's work resides in numerous private and
public collections. John Paul teaches at many international institutions including the Maine Photographic
Workshops, Santa Fe Photographic Workshops, The School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Palm Beach
Photographic Workshops, Toscana Photographic Workshops, and the International Center of Photography.
He gives workshops and lectures at universities and museums in the United States and abroad.
John Reuter
Following graduate school Reuter began working for Polaroid Corporation, first as a research photographer
and later as main photographer and director in the 20x24 Studio. He collaborated with artists
such as William Wegman, Joyce Tenneson, Olivia Parker, David Levinthal, Timothy Greenfield-Sanders,
and many others who have produced work with the legendary 20x24 camera. His SX-70 collages gave
way to painted Image Transfers in formats ranging from 8x10 inches to 5x6 feet.
David
Michael Kennedy
Extensive work with the Palladium Printing Process while concentrating on Landscapes and the
Native American Culture as primary subject matter. An award-winning photographer, educator, and
author, his special projects include commissioned commercial work and philanthropic endeavors.
In the early 90's Reuter moved into digital imaging.
Robert Balcomb Photography
Robert Balcomb was William Mortensen's protege, having studied with him in 1956. Mr. Balcomb
integrated Mortensen's techniques into his own portrait photography business. His archives now
reside at the Center for Creative Photography at the U. of Arizona.
Julia Dean
Photographer, educator, humanitarian. Julia has shows and lectures at her art space in Venice,
CA, and conducts photo tours around the world.
Stephen Livick
Large mural images of India using the gum dichromate process. International solo exhibitions
